Case Studies
INTERNATIONAL AIR FREIGHT - A U.S. manufacturer of cosmetic products with air exports to South America realized an average weight savings of 48 lbs or 22 kilos per pallet when shipping on the Air Ride Pallet®. The company was able to reduce their landed product cost by over $83.27 per pallet when including all weight based charges up to destination. “We ship over 2500 pallets annually, saving in excess of $200,000 per year and providing additional protection to our products, made making the change to the Air Ride Pallet® an effortless decision.”
INTERNATIONAL AIR FREIGHT - “We have been shipping our products globally for over 50 years and our product line varies by the formula that we manufacture to our customers requirements. Some of our formulas contain properties that classify them as Dangerous Goods or Hazardous Materials so we are always at the mercy of the airlines to accept and transport our shipments at a fair rate. Since 911, the number of fees and charges has been increasing. Initially we were skeptical of the real cost savings we could achieve with the Novo Foam pallet. When we did a trial and compared charges to past shipments, we were amazed at the cost savings for our customers and our company.”
DOMESTIC AIR FREIGHT - A nationwide supplier of machine parts didn't believe they had a use for the Air Ride Pallet®. An analysis of shipment history revealed that the customer had been shipping via domestic airfreight using next day service from 2 to 5 times a week. They had a good contracted rate of $0.85 per pound plus fuel surcharges. By using the Air Ride Pallet®, they were able to save an average of $1,116.86 a week on airfreight costs. “Most of our customers are charged for these expedited costs, reducing these costs has made us more competitive and we have actually increased our business.”
INTERNATIONAL AIR FREIGHT - A multinational technology company had a recent roll out of a new product that shipped by air from China to the United States. The program included over 9,200 pallets of product that was shipped on wood pallets. After arriving in the U.S., the products were sorted, then orders were fulfilled and air freighted to the final customer. By utilizing the Air Ride Pallet® and reducing the chargeable weight the calculated savings was in excess of $1 Million USD!
OCEAN FREIGHT - With demand growing for a globally marketed specialty beverage product coupled with the complications associated with wood pallet regulations and fumigation, changing to the Air Ride Pallet®provided multiple solutions. “We were able to add an extra 1200 lbs of product for each container shipped. This reduced the number of containers we need to ship annually and eliminated the ISPM 15 pallet requirements and associated documentation process and cost.”
CLOSED LOOP - Faced with the ever increasing fuel costs, surcharges and general rate increases each year; a mid sized manufacturer was able to realize an immediate 7% savings when moving products to and from their sister component plant. “People do not realize that everything is based on weight, when you remove that from the equation, your compounded weight savings over time can really add up.”
RECYCLABLE - By understanding that the best way to fight global warming is to save a tree and keep wood out of land fill sites, a major manufacturer of health aids found it easy to rationalize the switch to the Air Ride Pallet®. “We are getting more products to market on fewer pallets, reducing transport costs, enabling extended use of our pallets while taking comfort that when they have reached their life limit, they will become another consumer use product.”
RISK MANAGEMENT - “When we analyzed our warehouse related workers compensation claims, we realized that more than 80% of claim incidents were wood pallet related. We have virtually eliminated our pallet related claims with the Air Ride Pallet®. We no longer have pieces of wood and nails lying around, and have eliminated the need for constant sweeping of the warehouse floor. The light weight has made it possible to easily move pallets around the warehouse without the need for a pallet jack or fork lift.”
